Eaton Socon A 2, Steeple Morden 2

21st February 2015 :: Cambs FA County League MPG 3A

Eaton started the game with a new formation of 4-2-3-1 against a strong Steeple side, who have proved to be a bogey side for us over the years, having not picked up a point against them since 2010. Socon looked very bright from the start and took an early lead through Asa Johnson, after some great passing play and a brilliant cross and assist from Scott Cockram. Steeple then equalised about 10 minutes from the break, both teams had chances to go into half time in front but both goalkeepers were solid and stood strong. The 2nd half started slowly, and after 15 minutes the score was still locked at 1-1. Player manager Chris French then switched the formation to 4-4-2 with an immediate response from the players, as Eaton took the lead more or less straight away as Sam Ward finished brilliantly after some great play from James Taylor and Asa Johnson. Eaton then hammered their opponents without managing to put the ball in the net and finish steeple of. With 5 minutes left Steeple broke, and a slip in the back line they equalised. Chris French was proud of his players and said the effort and commitment from the lads was second to none.
