Eaton Socon 2, Potton United 0

21st July 2015 :: Friendly Matches

Eaton Socon continued their fine pre-season form with a great result against UCL promotion hopefuls Potton United. After Saturdays result against Beds Premier outfit Elstow the boys went into the game full of confidence. Potton Utd came with a very strong team, but were unable to match the passion and desire shown by Eaton. On 16 minutes Eaton should have opened the scoring after good work by Kingsbury saw Ben Coles race through only to see his effort saved well by the Potton keeper. However the deadlock was broken five minutes later when Eaton played the ball from the back and a great ball from Dawson found Kingsbury who beat the defender to deliver an inch perfect cross for Shane Molony to smash home. This was nothing more than Eaton deserved. With half time approaching Eaton doubled their lead when after a goalmouth scramble Banbury won the ball and it bounced out to Ben Wilks who smashed it home from the edge of the area. Eaton made various changes but it never really affected the flow of the team. The defensive unit was solid and with skipper Milky Wale catching everything that was thrown at him the game in the end was comfortably won.
