Lakenheath 1, Eaton Socon 3

15th August 2015 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Richard Kays was Eaton's match winner with two well taken goals to give Eaton their first win of the season at Lakenheath. The game was pretty tight for the first 20 minutes and Lakenheath should have scored when they had the real first chance when a ball over the top caught Eaton square but the striker lifted the ball over Wale and wide. Then on 25 minutes a free kick for Eaton from 30 yards was hit by Dawson, the ball hit the bar and fell to Kays who volleyed home. It was no more than Eaton deserved and they held on to that lead to the break. The second half started well for Eaton and great work from LGF saw the keeper make a good save but the ball fell to Maloney who scored from on the line. Eaton should have increased that lead further with Wilks and LGF both producing good saves from the home keeper. Eaton's resolve was then tested when on 67 minutes Lakenheath pulled a goal back meaning a nervous last 20 minutes. However Eaton battled hard and after a quality save from Milky Eaton broke up the other end and good work from LGF saw the ball squared to Kays who poked home his second and sealed the win for Eaton. They now move on to Tuesday and a tough home derby against Gamlingay Utd. Good three points for the long journey home.
