Eaton Socon 0, Fulbourn Institute 2

29th August 2015 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Eaton could not repeat the feat of Tuesday night when a lacklustre performance saw them go down to Fulbourn 2-0. Eaton have lost four of their first six games and though they have played good football they have been punished for errors in what is a pretty unforgiving league. Again Eaton had the majority of the play in the first half hour but again failed to convert the early chances. Robert Gooch had the first effort on 3 minutes but his shot cannoned off the bar. Minutes later Kingsbury turned the defender only to see his shot saved. Eaton continued to make chances and on 27 minutes a great run by Robert Gooch saw his cross go across the area without anyone really making an effort to get on the end. However with 2 minutes of the first half a controversial moment which changed the game.. Eaton were attacking and Kingsbury looked to have got clear of the defender only for the player to push Kingsbury over for which the linesman made a big clear flag... Eaton stopped and quite inexplicably the referee waived play on.. Now you play to the whistle and Eaton were too busy disputing the decision and Fulbourn carried on and Darling scored to make it 1-0. Eaton never really recovered from that and when they lost the lively Whittingham at half time they seemed to lose their drive and effectiveness. Eaton though kept trying but with no cutting edge and then on 75 minutes another debatable referee decision saw a penalty awarded for what clearly looked a dive. The spot kick was finished and so where Eaton.

So first six games have been played in what is a very busy three week period. Eaton will regroup this week. And go again.
