Eaton Socon res. 2, Fenstanton 2
6th February 2016 :: Creake Charity Shield
Eaton Ressies made it through to the semi-finals of the Creake Charity Shield after seeing off a stubborn Fenstanton side at River Road. They will now play Red Lodge in the semi-final at River Road on March 5th. In a game played in strong winds Eaton had 16 heroes in the squad who at times were quality in their commitment and passion. Manager Riachard Argyle must be a proud man today as he can see all his hard work taking fruit with the squad. After a goaless first half Eaton had to try and break down the resolute Fenstanton defense with a strong wind in their faces and after a period of sustained pressure James Godfrey finally broke the deadlock and Eaton were deservedly in front. However Fenstanton took the game to extra time when they equalised late on. In extra time Sammy Argyle restored Eaton's lead and it looked as if the Eagles were in the semi final, but again Fenstanton came back to level the game and take it to penalties. Keeper Simon White was the hero with two fine penalty saves, and with James Godfrey, Connor Heaps, Tom Hall and finally Rhys Williams scoring their penalties (oh Kirk Kidd missed his) Eaton made it through to set up a big day in March.
