Eaton Socon 3, Over Sports 0

2nd April 2016 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Eaton moved into third place of the Cambs Premier League with a well earned 3-0 win against Over Sports. On a sunny afternoon a good crowd came to see if Eaton could keep up their title challenge and they did not disappoint with a big three points. It now means that Eaton travel to top of the league Fulbourn next Saturday with plenty to play for. This was a big win, but Over did not make it easy as they worked hard and made Eaton really work for any early openings, and it took a bit of magic from Scott Kingsbury to get the ball rolling. Kingsbury picked the ball up on the right, beat two Over defenders and dinked a lovely ball to the far post for Whittingham to head home. That was as good as it got in the first half with further efforts few and far between.

Eaton though came out after half time with a bit more purpose and on 63 minutes Ryan Baxter picked the ball up on the right and drove past two defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot past the Over keeper for his third goal in as many games. Then the game became the Shaun Flack show. On 68 minutes Over won a corner, the ball came in and the Over forward headed the ball goalwards only for Flack to head off the line. Then the champagne moment, Flacky has got so much 'flack' (oh dear) for not scoring this season but finally he picked the ball up on the right played a one two with Kingsbury, beat a defender and shot past the Over keeper. To the delight of his team mates and the crowd. This put the icing on the cake and a big three points.
