Foxton 1, Eaton Socon 6

15th October 2016 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Eaton completed a great week with a comfortable 6-1 away win over Foxton. After their fine win at March on Wednesday the management team wanted to make sure that it was not after the Lord Mayors show and the lads duly obliged.. in the last two games Eaton have come flying out of the traps and they did that today with early chances falling to the impressive Fox and Wilks but found the home custodian in fine form.. but it was not long before Bassett got in behind the Foxton defence and slotted the ball past the keeper. And Eaton laid siege to the Foxton goal and chances were made but missed with the best chance falling to Fox who blasted over.. but Eaton did finally get their second goal when great work from Flack found Wilks who curled the ball into the net.. two soon became three as Fox rose the highest at the far post to head home a Bassett cross and Eaton made sure the game was over as a contest on half time when Bassett again got in behind and scored neatly for his 15th of the season.

Foxton we're glad of half time, though they were again punished early into the second half when a great free kick from Byatt found Whittingham at the far post to make it 5-0.. With Kay pulling the strings in the middle of the park Eaton were totally dominating ..Foxton worked hard without never really threatening and if they were to score it would probably need to come from an Eaton mistake .. and Eaton helped them on their way when a poor back pass was intercepted by Pemberton who nearly finished past Wale. Eaton again pressed and the home keeper made great saves from Bassett, Fox, Gooch and Pearce and it looked as if they would not get the sixth .. and to compound it all Micky Banbury had to leave the field with what looked a bad knee injury .. at the time of writing this report Micky was at the hospital being checked out.. as all the subs had been used Eaton went down to ten men but this didn't stop them putting the pressure on the Foxton goal and finally in the last minute great work from Flack found man of the match Shane Fox who tapped home his second.. so a great win and now all eyes turn to next weeks Scott Gatty Cup tie against local rivals Brampton in what will be a cracker l.

The Ressies went out of the League Cup after a disappointing 4-2 defeat at the hands of March Town Reserves.. after going two down Eaton managed to level the game with goals from Alex Shepherd and a screamer from Tom Baxter .. only for March to score again from a free kick .. although they pushed to equalise they just couldn't pull it off and crashed out at the first hurdle.

The A team remain unbeaten after a fine 3-1 victory at Needingworth Utd A in the Hunts Cup .. scorers are unknown at this moment .. but a good win for the youngsters who now go into the draw for the second round.. superb day for Fox and Bassett (pictured) and a great week for the club.
