Eaton Socon 1 Cambridge City 1
Ten man Eaton managed to hold out for a point at home to a hard working City side at the MGS this afternoon. Eaton started brightly and deservedly took the lead when Josh Spavins headed home a Byatt corner. However after that Eaton lacked quality and allowed City back in the game. The equaliser came on 36 minutes when Loker scored though Whittingham looked to have been fouled in the build up.. And the afternoon was to get worse for Whittingham when he was shown a straight red for a reckless challenge. This seemed to kick Eaton in to life and Lee Bassett hit the bar no less than three times in the last 15 minutes. He also squared the ball across the six yard area but no Eaton player could stretch enough to score. City thoroughly deserved the point and Eaton's grip on third is loosening with every game..
The ressies had a tough away day at the hands of Littleport the team that they owed from cup final last year. Sammy went for a risky change with 3 at the back but Eaton turned up on a decent pitch over there for once and from the off played some brilliant keep ball football Eaton had a early goal chalked off from ward offside and a pen shout turned down but Sammy's boys were not to be deterred and some excellent build up play ward notched his first Eaton still played some good stuff and an excellent move saw Wardy notch his second they ended half a little scrappy but second were slow out the traps but the boys soaked up the pressure and a great cross from m.o.m ash Howard saw a great header from Maloney Eaton saw the rest of game out and last kick of game some individual play saw Maloney keep his goal to notch his second ...good call from the gaffer to show the boys can change there game and win well on to next week
