Sawston United 2, Eaton Socon 3

18th April 2017 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Eaton win their first game in six league games when they beat Sawston United 3-2 at New Road. Despite winning the Hunts Cup last week Eaton have suffered a bit of a confidence crisis lately and tonight they finally got their act together and picked up the three points that guarantees Eaton a top four finish for the second year and a place in the Cambs Invitational Cup.. but everyone at the club knows that it should have been so much better..

Anyway a great ball from Spavins found Bassett clear on 7 minutes and his effort was saved .. the ball fell to Byatt who scored from 18 yards. Eaton's defensive fragility was soon exposed when poor marking from a corner on 18 minutes saw Sawston equalise. But Eaton's front three were causing Sawston issues and good work from the lively Parratt saw Bassett race through to score his 41st goal of the season. But again Eaton failed to capitalise and allowed Sawston back in the game when poor defending saw Camp race through and score past Wale. All square at half time and Eaton came out with more purpose in the second half but we're failing to create any clear chances. Gooch and Sammy Argyle were introduced and had an immediate impact .. Gooch went on a number of runs and Sammy Argyle supplied the cross that provided the winning goal for Shane Fox. So a good three points and with two home league games to go .. a push for third is still on
