Eaton Socon 4, Cherry Hinton 0

22nd April 2017 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier

Don't say it too loud but Eaton may have got their swagger back with two vital wins in four days, when they beat Cherry Hinton 4-0 at the MGS. The Cherries came into the game in good form and Eaton knew they would have to up their game if they wanted the three points..  and after their win at Sawston on Tuesday Eaton came flying out of the blocks and pressured the Cherries early doors.. and that pressure told on 14 minutes when Bassett got in behind the Cherries defence, he shot and this was blocked and it fell to Byatt who scored his second goal in as many games. This saw the confidence in the Eaton team rise further and on 30 minutes more great work by Bassett and Byatt found Parratt who sold the defender a dummy and he scored from 6 yards. Two soon became three when that man Bassett again left the Cherries full back in his wake and he rolled the ball across the six yard box to Parratt who scored his second. Half time and three up Eaton came out in the second half and failed to get back to the dizzy heights of the first. However in the closing minutes great work from Whittingham found Bassett who scored his 42nd of the season. Four nil didn't flatter Eaton and to be fair the Cherries kept working hard.. and with Lakenheath losing at home to Shelford third is still on ..

Sammy Argyle finished off a great season in his first year as manager with a 4-1 defeat away at Chatteris Town Res.. Asa Johnson got the goal but Sammy and the boys can be proud of what they achieved in what is their best season for sometime.. victory in the Hunts Cup against Ramsey Town will see a trophy on the top table on May 12th and a respectable league position .. well done to all involved..
The A team went down 5-3 at Meldreth in their penultimate game ..
The first team play their final game on Tuesday at home to Fowlmere before the Cambs Premier Cup final on Bank holiday Monday .. still a lot to play for ..
