Mepal Sports 5, Eaton Socon res. 9

27th October 2018 :: Cambs FA County League MPG 1B

Eaton Ressies played in one of the strangest games you’ll see this season. Eaton bossed the game for long periods and looked like scoring every time they went forward. Unfortunately the Mepal Centre forward took it upon himself to make the game interesting scoring a brilliant opener with a scissor kick finish from the edge of the box. He would finish the half with a Hat-trick due to some very sloppy Eaton defending. Luckily for Eaton their front players were almost scoring and creating chances at will, Lee Griffiths, Alan Moore, Luke Fox and Darren Blackall all on top of their game and causing all sorts of problems. The half ended with Eaton leading 5-3 when really it could have been a few more.

The 2nd half was more of the same and just when Eaton got their 6th and thought it was over, Mepal capitalised on more poor defending to get the score back to 5-6. Andy Coles and Tom Hall continued to boss the midfield and made sure Mepal didn’t get back into the game again, passing the ball around at will with some lovely stuff. Blackall completed his hat-trick, Moore got his 4th of the game with Griffiths and Fox getting in on the act too. Kyle Morris who was a constant threat down the right hand side all day could have and should have made it 10, but managed to miss when it seemed easier to score.

A good result at the end of the day and Eaton remain unbeaten in the league. They will face another unbeaten side next weekend when they entertain Godmanchester Rovers Reserves.
