Eaton Socon 4, Foxton 2
17th November 2018 :: Cambs FA County League Kershaw Premier
A great afternoon for Eaton Socon first team as they reversed the away defeat at Foxton very early in the season. Eaton started brightly but found themselves a goal down after 8 mins as they conceded a soft goal from the first Foxton attack of the game. Eaton then had the lions share of possession and created several good chances before Callan Irvine equalised from close range with a smart finish. Much like the first goal Eaton were guilty again of a lapse in concentration as Foxton went 2-1 up against the run of play. A missed Joe Keech penalty before the break made it a nervous end to the first half where Eaton certainly didn’t deserve to be behind.
The second half was a different story. Eaton grew in confidence and after a mazy run by Lewis Davis, Eaton were awarded a second penalty. Ryan Whittingham stepped up and made no mistake sending the Foxton keeper the wrong way. With 17 minutes left to play Ben Cole hit an unstoppable rising volley into the top corner from 22 yards and made an early claim for goal of the season. The goal signalled absolute scenes from the home side and it wasn’t long after that Ben Cole capped a superb performance leading the line with his second and Eaton’s forth after 85mins.
In summary two superb wins in the last two weeks against top 4 opposition. Eaton now focus their attention to St Ives Rangers in the Hunts Cup quarter final at the Mick George stadium next Saturday.
