Eaton Socon 3, St Ives Rangers 1

24th November 2018 :: Hunts Intermediate Cup

Vale unlocks door to the Semis.

A Ryan Vale hat-trick sent the Eagles through to the semi-final of the Hunts intermediate Cup on an afternoon of little quality from the home side. St Ives won the battle of the early exchanges and went a goal up after 10mins when Eaton failed to clear a low cross from the right. Eaton rallied and after a period of sustained pressure the ball dropped to Vale who scored on the turn with a right foot shot into the corner.

Second half started like the first with St Ives enjoying possession with Eaton keeper Shay Griffiths dealing well with a number of St Ives crosses into the box. With 20 mins to go Eaton took the lead when Vale scored his and Eaton’s second with a clinical finish from close range. Eaton then enjoyed sustained possession with Blake Rivers linking up well with Ben Cole and Billy Mobbs in the final third before Vale killed the game off with his hat trick goal firing into the roof of the net from 12 yards sending the holders Eaton through.

Cambridge City Development up next at the Mick George stadium as the Eagles look to continue their recent good run of three wins from three.
